Nursing School Graduation Photo! THEN comes the NCLEX!

Hi there!

You know that feeling of accomplishing something big?  Something so big that you feel like you've put everything into it for a long time?  I'm on the verge of that because :drum roll: I am weeks away from graduating nursing school!

Now in typical teenage fashion my 16 year old son said to me about two months ago, "I don't know why you make nursing school sound so hard it's not like you're studying to be a doctor or anything."  With an eye roll that cleared a good 180 degrees and then some I just shook my head at him, knowing that he would someday figure it out when he was walking his own college path.

With this big goal crossed off my bucket list, I know I'll take a deep breath and feel like a huge weight has rolled off of my back.  You feelin' me?  Since 2011 I've been taking over 12 credits a semester (remember your college days or are you in them with me?) and finally a big hurdle is in sight.

With that, here's my graduation photo.  Just between me and you, you bet your sweet bippy I photoshopped the begeez out of my wrinkles.  A few more lines had crept up under the ol' eyeballs and no way was I letting them stand in the way of my yearbook glory!  I had to have big hair, mega gloss, and my trusty stethoscope and trademark green scrubs- this is me, pre RN, ready to take the NCLEX- hear me program that IV pump, world!

Nurse Tianne, at your service (almost):

And this post wouldn't be complete without my buddy Jerri.  Let me extol her for a few.

Dear Jerri,

Remember the day we met?  I was walking across the green, near the suspended airplane by the tech building when you came up to me.  In your sweet way, you smiled and struck up a conversation.  We'd just been through a three hour 'first day' anatomy lecture that left me wondering if maybe my 5 year school hiatus had been too long.  I then lamented that I was in math 1010 and didn't have a clue.  You offered your book to me.  Just like that- I could've been a thief royale and you just gave me your best.  Fast forward three and a half years and this sweet way of yours is still your hallmark.  You've listened to me cry.  You've not cried once.  I've ranted and complained and been hurt and flunked- you kept going but without the melodrama.  You've made me food, comfy fires for a movie on your happy couch, gave me taco seasoning recipes and mothered and loved me in a way that would've changed my life in so many ways had I known you sooner.  Yet even in this time span, I've become a better person altogether for knowing you.  You've shown me Christ-like love and real friendship and you are an example to me of goodness in the eye of the storm.  Every test, every study guide, every single stinking night of 3 hours of sleep- here we are:  Day one to the finish line.  You dragged me along and we both learned to fly- I have you to thank for getting through this.  I know I've found a friend of a lifetime.

Here's to us!  San Diego, anatomy, Sim codes, bad test scores, Huge A's on our transcript- and I know we'll be together when RN is behind both our names.

You are one of my treasures.  I love you.

P.S.  Don't kill me for posting your photo on my blog.

Hey Vulcan_Butterfly! Thank you! I loved it and it was tough, but so glad I did it. WAHOO! LOL that was my 16 year old son who thought I was being weaksauce about it. He'll find out when he hits college that it's not as easy at it might look.
