Michael Kors Beauty Collection- Sporty, Sexy, Glam! Get your Kors on with NYX dupes!

Hi there!

I love me some Michael Kors.  We have an outlet nearby and a mainstay store and it's fun to look at the handbags and clothes.  I can't bring myself to pay hundreds of dollars for a purse just yet, but it's heady to run my fingers over the cobbled leather and admire the shiny gold MK tags.  I have a very athletic, beautiful friend who has a Michael Kors satchel and watch and shoes and....she's gorgeous and full of spirit and very chic.  I equate MK with women like her- luxury and urban chic- a woman who doesn't mind looking good, but loves to have fun.  It's like the best, sexiest version of you.

The new beauty collection focuses on being sporty, sexy, or glam.  You can choose from lipstick shades, glosses, nail polish, bronzers, and self-tanners.  For a finishing touch to the beauty collection, there are fragrances to pick from as well.  There are 3 scents in (you guessed it) Sporty, Sexy, and Glam.

Fragrance
Clear- Sporty
Gold- Sexy
Blush- Glam

But if you want to see the lipsticks, gleaming lacquer and bronzers...

Take a look!

First up, self tanner or after sun gelee.  For $32.00 and 5 ounces, it's pretty obvious that MK is not a budget brand.  I've not tried these or seen many reviews, but I like the gold packaging.  It looks luxe.

Next up are color families that include lipstick, gloss, and nail lacquers.  You can get them separately or a combo of lacquer/gloss.  The combo is cheaper and seems to be the better deal.

Okay $28.00 for a lip balm?!  That's steep when I usually pay around $1 for Chapstick, but then again it's not Michael Kors Chapstick...in gold fabulousness.

There is also a nude/beige shade offering, with the white and nude being considered "sporty".  I really like the nude shades- they call me.

Sorry there isn't a nude/nude combo- only the white polish and nude gloss.  I'm okay with this as I love white polish right now...love it!

The combo set of gloss and nail polish make each item $16 instead of  18 (polish) and 24 (gloss).  I think that would be the way to go.  That is, if you like the shade of lacquer *grin

Next up are the warmer more "sexy" shades- bright raspberry magenta and a flaming red.  I really like the bright pink shades- they look like they're not too pink but more berry and that seems more wearable to me.

Weird that there isn't a magenta gloss, but I guess a lippie and polish were the focus.  I could've seen a bright pink gloss being a fave.  It's interesting they offer a quite expensive lip balm, but not a matching gloss for this popular shade range.

Next up, rrrred!

Sadly there isn't a red lipstick for this set.  I wish they'd provided one.  Boo.

Last up are the deep vampy shades that are a rich, dark plum.  However, there is also a more warm violet shade for the polish- but nothing in that shade for lips.

And the random violet polish- take a look!

Sad to say if you were hoping for a vampy lippie and polish combo, you'll not find it in this collection.  Instead they offer the violet polish and plum lipgloss.  I can see why- it's nice to have a brighter nail shade and not be too matchy, matchy.  BUT for those of us who are a bit OCD with their color combos at times, a plum polish/gloss offering would've been loverly.

The final offering are bronzers!  There are lighter and slightly more deeper shades, but honestly nothing that would suit a darker skin tone.  Why this section of humanity is consistently ignored by cosmetics is beyond me.  I guess the more brown shade could work, but I could see this being too light for many.  I'll wait to see reviews online before I decide if it's dark enough or not.  Phooey.

I also found it interesting that each shade was either Sexy, Sporty, or Glam....with Sporty being the darker shade.  Why can't darker be glam?  I guess it implies tan...ah well.  Perhaps one has more sparkle/shimmer than another with the darker shade being more matte.  Without any description beyond name and price, it's hard to tell.  You can click on each item to get a description, but it's still a bit unclear as to what each shade offers beyond a color difference.

Silky, smooth powder in a tan, rosy shade complements most skin tones and blends easily. Subtly fragranced with jasmine, tuberose, sandalwood and cassis.

For a just-back-from-the-beach glow, sweep brush over Bronze Powder and apply to cheeks, bridge of nose, forehead and décolletage.

Silky, smooth powder in a natural, tawny shade complements most skin tones and blends easily. Subtly fragranced with jasmine, tuberose, sandalwood and cassis.

For a just-back-from-the-beach glow, sweep brush over Bronze Powder and apply to cheeks, bridge of nose, forehead and décolletage.

Silky, smooth powder in a deep copper shade complements most skin tones and blends easily. Subtly fragranced with jasmine, tuberose, sandalwood and cassis.

For a just-back-from-the-beach glow, sweep brush over Bronze Powder and apply to cheeks, bridge of nose, forehead and décolletage.

The final item is a flat, round topped mini kabuki in gold grommet casing for a handle.  I'm not sure how big it is or if it's dense, round, or what have you in shape.

Michael Kors Bronze Powder Brush

Short-handled, Kabuki-style bronzing brush makes powder application easy and flawless. Made with plush bristles for a luxurious, super-soft feel.

To achieve a natural, luminous glow, sweep brush over Bronze Powder, then apply to cheeks, temples, forehead, bridge of nose and décolletage in small, circular motions.

So there you have it!  Is there anything that catches your eye?  Do you feel like it's priced appropriately or would you dupe a shade that's a tad less expensive?

Here are some of my more budget friendly dupe choices using only one brand, Nyx Cosmetics.  I think you can get the same luxe shades at a price where you can afford to get quite a bit that performs well.

White/Balm
Polish-  Nail Polish Salon in White

Balm-  The Blue Lip Gloss Smile Brightener, it's a tube gloss that has a slight blue tint designed to whiten teeth.  No SPF, but I think serves a better purpose than just being a balm.  Since it can function as a gloss and a balm, that's a bonus!

Nude
Lipstick- Matte Lipstick in Nude

Gloss- Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Sugar Pie

Polish- Girls Nail Polish in Nude Truffle, Nail Polish Salon in Beige (more neutral) or Nail Polish in Luxie (warm nude)

Magenta
Lipstick- Round Lipstick in Gardenia

Polish- Girls Nail Polish in Dance in Havana (bright pink) or for a more warm blue pink, try Nail Polish Salon in Gemma.  But for a more 'dupe' shade, try Nail Polish Salon in Chicago.

Red
Gloss- Mega Shine Lip gloss in Perfect Red

Polish- Nail Polish Salon in Vinyl Red

Plum
Lipstick-  Round Lipstick in Bruised

Gloss-  Mega Shine Lip gloss in Maroon (more plum) and Vixen, or Girls Round Lip gloss in Deep Red (more deep).

Polish-  There are a couple of options on this one.  You could go with more sparkle like Nail Polish Salon in Midnight.  Or a darker more creme like Moonwalk from the Girls Polish selection.   The Girls polish (new version) offers so many versions on a rich plum shade you can truly pick whatever you like!

Violet
Polish- Nail Polish Salon polish in Sour Plum for a vibrant take or Girls Nail Polish in Shocking Purple (more pink).

Bronzers
Sporty-  Illuminating Body Bronzer in Magnetic

Sexy-  Matte Bronzer in Deep or Light (or whatever suits your skin tone)

Glam-  Illuminating Body Bronzer in Narcissistic

Let me know if you see any good reviews or decide to pick any of this up.  I'm liking the white polish nude gloss combo and the nude lipstick.

Have a great day,
