20 Degrees Out & She Still Smiled
This was so lovely. A dark city square, twinkling Christmas lights, and a lovely girl in a satin gown dripping with diamonds. Okay, so not real diamonds, ha ha! The shoot was going great until we got on location and there we were, 20 degrees Fahrenheit and she was posing in this thin dress. Beautiful location and the shots turned out great. Not too posed, not too 'couture', just enough to say "pretty girl in a pretty dress and pretty lights'. Take a look!
Hats off to Roy of D Cubed Photography of Salt Lake City. Sunshine (yep, real name) was the model and I loved how the glitter of the dress matched the lights. What fun!
For her makeup I used a matte Jane foundation in Ivory, white highlighting powder (Besame dusting powder) beneath the eyes and the apples of her cheeks for brightness. A plum blush (Nars Mata Hari) with gold highlighting cream (ELF shimmer cream in Toast) to tone down the pink. Black eyeshadow used as liner and shaping of the eyes courtesy of Aromaleigh in BlackAngel. Maybelline Stiletto lash mascara in black and Chanel Glossimer in Pagoda with Estee Lauder pure crystal gloss in Flash. Luckily, she had very smooth skin that didn't require a lot of concealer. I used BeneFit Hollywood Glo on her skin to even out tone and good light reflection, considering it was so dark.
This would've been puuuurrrfect had it not been freezing! But darling thing, she doesn't have a goosebump on her and you wouldn't know that after every click we ran up with a furry blanket. What a pro!
Until next time,
